Announcement

The Singapore Productivity Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Chew Mok Lee, Senior Fellow of Enterprise Singapore to be the founding chairperson of the Green Productivity Alliance Singapore (GPAS). Green Productivity is an initiative championed by the Asian Productivity Organization, an intergovernmental organization of 21 member economies which Singapore is a member since 1969. Green Productivity (GP) is a strategy to enhance productivity while simultaneously reducing environment impact to achieve overall socioeconomic development.

The Founding Advisory Committee which will be formed shortly will develop the key priorities of the Alliance and initiate relevant projects to achieve the goals of the Alliance. This includes green productivity initiatives with respective industries as well as cross-industry collaborations. The short-term goal (2-3 years) is to jointly develop frameworks, implement training and projects, and groom pipeline of talent to achieve productivity growth for enterprises while reducing environmental impact. Metrics on CHG reduction, Labour and Value-added productivity can be measured to track progress and make continuous improvements, the longer-term goal is to use the information collected to set an accelerated target towards 2030 and enhance the initiative through implementing collaborative innovation on cross-sector, platform-based or digital projects.

SGPA’s subsidiary, the Singapore Productivity Centre, represents Singapore at the APO as the National Productivity Organization and will be the secretariat to support the GPAS initiative.

SGPC was established under the auspices of the National Productivity Council in 2013, chaired by then DPM Tharman, to focus on productivity-driven growth. Since 2013, SGPC has assisted over 1000 enterprises in upgrading their capabilities through consulting projects, overseas best practices missions, training and masterclasses, benchmarking, and sharing of research and publications.
